The venue for this event is Addison Park situated on the edge of Empangeni with shady trees, a kids play ground, undercover seating, hot showers and a restaurant/bar food zone all on site for a full day's family enjoyment.
All tracks incorporate the best that the local area has to offer:
The 10km track heads off into the local cane fields for an awesome fast section of jeep track and farm trails with a well deserved ½ way watering table at the farm dam with the trek up and back to the finish leaving the young ones with a feeling of accomplishment, the route is aimed at the younger rider but is also well suited to riding as a family with Mom and Dad.
The 25km and the 50km head off on the same route with the 25Km turning off after 5 km mark weaving through farm trails, cattle tracks and a river bed trail with a challenging climb up Ola hill with the refreshing Ola watering table waiting for you at the summit, then it's a fast decent into more single track. Watch out for the odd zebra, wildebeest or even giraffe before heading off for a fast chase back to the finish.
The 50Km track is a must for those that wish to test their technical ability with a fast upward trek out through the farm lands entering the tribal lands with a rocky trail decent into cattle and single track, dongas and river beds. Expect some great rewards after some testing climbs. This is a mountain bikers dream track with a few surprises thrown in by our own Dr Evil, George Wilsenach. On the turn you head back to the Bell test track for the final watering table before you make a final loop over the Reddinger dam and then a special crossing and then you will be in for a fast chase back to the finish.
