This unique race, brought to you by the Burg Wheelers Cycling Club, and sponsored by Compendium Insurance Brokers Proudly Bidvest, offers 3 distances, to cater for a range of age groups and fitness levels.  It follows out-and-back routes from and to Michaelhouse School, an ideal location whence entrants/ families may enjoy the Midlands Meander.  Just 2 weeks before the Cape Town Cycle Tour, it is ideal to test fitness levels and hone those all-important bunch-riding skills.

The 80km route (1200m of climbing) heads, from the Michaelhouse main gate, south, down the R103 past Piggly Wiggly, past the Dargle/ Impendle turn-off, does a U-turn at the R103 T-junction adjacent to the Lions River N3 intersection (No 103), before heading back up the R103, turn left for Dargle/ Impendle, does a U-turn to the end of the tar, returning to the Michaelhouse start/ finish.

Note: entrants not making the cut-off on the return-run at the Dargle turnoff will be directed to return directly to the start/ finish (i.e. a total distance of 50km).

The 50km route (600m of climbing) follows that of the 80km route, without turning onto the Dargle Road.

The 30km route (400m of climbing) heads south along the R103, past Lidgetton, and does a U-turn at Thokan’s Engen Garage at Lions River, before returning to the start/finish.

Water Tables will be provided on the return route.   An aQuelle drink and a quality water bottle will be provided to each finisher.

Prize money totaling R16 500! Prize money will be paid in each age category

Prize giving will commence at 10:30am followed by lucky draw prizes. Cyclists need to be present to claim their prize.

Timing will be done by Finish Time using timing chips which will be loaned to cyclists and must be worn on the left ankle and must be returned after your race.

Please bring your ROAG board/ bib: a new or replacement board may be purchased, at R20, when registering on race day.

The event is held under the rules and regulations of Cycling South Africa and Cycling KZN, the details of which rules may be found on the CSA website.  Entrants should familiarize themselves with these rules and regulations. Race number must be pinned on the lower left rear portion of your cycling shirt/ wind breaker.  There is NO road closure, so be aware of traffic at all times and keep to the left of the middle line at all times. If you cross the middle line you will be disqualified.  Much has been done to make this a safe race and so entrants’ co-operation is requested.  Follow marshalls’ and traffic officials’ directions.  Entrants are urged to download the MYSOS app on to their ‘phones: its use will bring prompt medical attention to where it is urgently needed.

Water bottles to all finishers.

Food & Beverages from various Kiosks will be sold at the venue.

Local accommodation is available in the area.

Plenty of fun and activities are available along the Midlands Meander, to see all the different activities available please see the below website.
