The downpour on Saturday night did not dampen the spirits of the 1508 athletes who participated in the aQuellé Cordwalles Mudman at Midmar Dam and Orient Park on Sunday 18th March.  On the contrary, the rain brought a freshness to the venue, it settled the dust and of course it ensured that most, if not all athletes got what they came for - a bit of mud.

The near to perfect conditions, with cloud cover and mild temperatures ensured that the Men's event was won by Tyrone White in the fantastic time of 01:19:29 and the Women's event was won in the equally impressive time of 01:33:56 by Sarah Gray.  Of course it's always exciting to witness talented athletes enjoying an adventurous course; but the Mudskipper events seemed to steal the hearts of the many spectators who cheered grinning little boys and girls across the finish line.  Athletes big and small were as delighted to be met by an icy aQuellé as they were proud to receive their aQuellé Mudman medals.

It was a day where kids of all ages had the healthiest kind of fun: As always it was charecterised by pristine surroundings, a manicured course, superb organization, the friendliest Cordies Team volunteers, enthusiastic athletes and supportive spectators.  In its centenary year Cordwalles was once again proud to be associated with this unique family event.
