Over a thousand riders took part in the popular Quattro St Mary's MTB Classic held on Sunday, 15th April on the beautiful Hill 'n Dale Country Estate (formerly Bartlett's) in Hammarsdale.

The 40km Classic took the participants through breathtaking views of Hammarsdale and Cato Ridge on two separate laps comprising of exciting new single and jeep track, with river and dam crossings. The 20km Intermediate course suited the not-so-serious rider but still provided enough of a MTB 'test', whilst allowing one to enjoy the privileges this great sport offers - riding through countryside one has little opportunity of seeing other than on a mountain bike. The 5km fun ride was aimed at the youngsters, whilst the 10km provided a good introduction to mountain biking for those not quite ready to venture to the more technical and challenging 20km route.

Thank you to the sponsors - Quattro, 100Plus, Sir Juice, BOS, Total Cover SA, Goba, Southey Contracting, ADT, Signature Life and Stihl, - the St Mary's parents and other volunteers for making the day an overwhelming success. Twenty percent of the proceeds raised on the day will be used to help establish the first Jes Foord Foundation stand-alone community care centre in the Highway area.

Way to much congestion, mass start was not a good idea. The course was good just poorly organised in terms of when the various events left and finished. The 40km finished with all the backmarkers of the 20km blocking the route and no etiqute with allowing us to pass made it very frustrating at the end.
