The Sharks held their inaugural Trail Adventure at Summerveld on Sunday 9 December, a wonderful day that attracted great support for what should become a highlight on the MTB and Trail Running calendar.

The outdoor activities were all about fun, but the competitiveness of runners and riders certainly gave the various races a spirited air while those who hung around and soaked up the carnival atmosphere were able to interact with Sharks players and Sharkie.

Sharks Marketing Manager Michael Ablett admitted that he was very pleased with the outcome, explaining that, "The day was a resounding success and together with the various races is an extension of The Sharks brand, focusing on wholesome family entertainment and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

"We are looking forward to making the event bigger and better next year and our thank go out to all the rides, runners and supporters for coming out in full force."

Organiser Stu Berry of Impi Concept Events was deeply satisfied with the overall day, saying, "We are very chuffed with the outcome of the first event and certainly see potential in its future growth. Just over 1000 runners and riders turned out at Summerveld and that is a superb response for a first time staging of an event.

"The Sharks have entered into a three year partnership and we look forward to extending the event in 2013 and 2014."

The last stretch before the end was not well marked and had no marshall telling the riders where to go. The last few riders home in the 40km never got any medals. That was a poor show.

Awesome course! Really fun, the first half of the 40k was nice and challenging, and the second half had some awesome flowing single track, a very well marked and set up route! Well done to everyone involved, I also didnt get a medal (mostly because Im lazy and didnt pedal fast enough) but thats not what I entered for. This was an awesome first race for me thanks guys!

The 18km trail run was a very enjoyable, hilly course. Not too technical, so could be run by road runners aswell. An awesome family day out with great facilities!!! Some constructive criticism - The first water point was a bit far into the race and didn't have cups when I arrived. But maybe I should have run a little slower and they would have got there on time. But I'll be back this year to tackle the course again!!!! Well fone Stu and your team!!!
